Top 20 Spanish cities highest real estate prices

How much do you need to pay for buying a house or apartment in the most expensive cities in Spain? Real estate portal Idealista published a ranking of the hundred most expensive locations for buying housing in Spain in the second quarter of 2021. According to this list, most “luxury locations” are concentrated in the Balearic Islands, Barcelona, Malaga and Alicante. Benahavis became the most expensive municipality.

In this resort town near Malaga, the average price for buying real estate reaches €1.5 million. Second place goes to the municipality of Calvia in western Mallorca (€1,081,932). Third place goes to Marbella.

Further, in the price range from half a million to €750,000, are popular resorts from different parts of the country: from Sotogrande (Cadiz province) to Sitges (Barcelona), as well as Javea, Altea (Alicante) and Llucmajor (Balearic Islands). The top ten also includes two other representatives from Barcelona province — Sant Cugat del Valles (about €600,000) and Castelldefels (€521,400).

If we consider provincial capitals, the highest place in the list (11th) was taken by San Sebastian (€485,500), 13th — Palma (€437,800), 15th — Madrid (€410,000). Barcelona (19th place, €351,800) also made it into the top 20, while Bilbao was in 22nd place (€295,500). Compared to the first quarter of 2021, the biggest jump in the top 100 was made by Tarragona (€216,200, +12 positions), La Manga and San Javier (€164,507, +8 positions each).
