August ended with a 30% increase in housing sales in the Valencian Community

The trend in the real estate transaction market in recent months shows an upward movement. August — traditionally a weak month for any type of transactions — turned out to be unusually active this year.
According to data from the Association of Registrars, 12,737 transactions were completed in the Valencian Community — 52% more than in the same month last year. The number of transactions relating exclusively to residential real estate increased by 70.6%: 6,652 operations were registered.
However, comparison with 2020 financial year data does not provide a clear picture of the trend, since last year demonstrated stagnation in most sectors due to the pandemic. Comparison with 2019 data is much more indicative: the growth in the total number of purchase and sale transactions in the community was 25.6%, which is impressive in itself.
If we focus exclusively on housing, the total number of operations shows growth of 29.8% between August this year and the same month in 2019.
Growth in summer 2021
The upward trend emerged in previous months, but was not so pronounced. Thus, in July the data showed growth of 4.9% in the total number of real estate transactions, while in the housing segment the increase was 1.5%.
Such a surge in activity had not been observed in previous months. According to the Association of Registrars report for the second quarter of this year, 18,746 housing purchase and sale transactions were completed in the community during the period from April to June.
This is a significant increase compared to 10,389 operations during the same months last year, which fell during the lockdown period.
