Sareb and the banks ceding housing to those affected by the volcano

Other financial measures, such as compensation and preferential financing lines, may also be made available
Sareb, the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (UNACC) have signed a commitment to provide to those affected by the eruption of the volcano on La Palma, free of charge and for as long as necessary, the homes that are currently available and in habitable conditions on the island of La Palma and nearby areas.

In this way, the associated financial institutions intend to contribute, together with the Administrations and the rest of the institutions, to the temporary rehousing of the evicted people.

The serious situation being experienced by the population of the island of La Palma, following the eruption of the volcano on 19 September, which has destroyed many homes, seriously affecting built-up areas and forcing the eviction of residents, requires a rapid and efficient response from society.

To this end, the organisations are currently identifying the number of homes that meet these requirements in order to make them available as soon as possible.

In addition, a series of other financial measures, such as compensation and preferential financing lines, may also be provided.

In order to contribute to alleviating the damage caused, appropriate coordination mechanisms will be set up between the financial institutions and the institutions involved to establish access to these housing for the people affected.
